PROOF by Robert Longo, at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow
For Robert Longo’s PROOF at Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, light was shaped with particular sensitivity to darkness, reflection and the intensity of looking. Working within OMA’s architectural framework, and in close dialogue with the museum and exhibition team, the scheme was designed to support Longo’s powerful black images without allowing reflected glare to disturb the major viewing angles. Accent light was placed with great care, giving the works presence and legibility while preserving their depth, tension and near-mirror finish behind glass. The result was an exhibition atmosphere that felt concentrated and exacting, where light heightened the emotional weight of the work while remaining almost imperceptible itself.
