At the Science and Industry Museum, lighting is used to turn arrival into an act of discovery. Working in quiet dialogue with Carmody Groarke’s architecture, the scheme brings orientation, atmosphere and dignity to the museum’s entrance, lobby and shop extension within a setting marked by industrial weight and historic character. Layered light gives rhythm to the vaulted structure, softens the heaviness of the undercroft and draws visitors onward with clarity and invitation. Rather than competing with the building’s heritage, the design reveals it through a composed and carefully measured use of light, allowing the first encounter with the museum to feel both grounded in history and open to curiosity.
