Tselinny Centre of Contemporary Culture, Almaty, Kasakhstan
At Tselinny, light became a first act of return. In collaboration with Grace Milan, the design supported the temporary reuse of a derelict building as a gallery for contemporary culture, working with modest resources but a clear architectural ambition. The lighting does not attempt to smooth away the building’s raw condition; instead, it draws from it, lending rhythm, legibility and presence to spaces of exhibition and exchange. In a project shaped as much by ingenuity as by budget, light becomes both structure and invitation, allowing the building’s unfinished state to remain visible while opening it once more to artists, audiences and the cultural life of Almaty
